For RBTs who want to do meaningful work
The Happy Medium Approach gives Registered Behavior Technicians practical, in-the-moment tools to understand behavior through context, regulation, and skill access, so you can support clients in ways that actually work in real life.
WHAT THIS APPROACH GIVES YOU
A way to think—while staying aligned with BACB requirements (RBT Task List & supervision standards).
The Happy Medium Approach complements 40-hour RBT training by strengthening how required competencies are applied in real contexts.
With this approach, you’ll learn how to:
-
Measurement & data collection: use clear, observable definitions and collect data that reflects context (e.g., antecedent conditions, setting events), not just frequency
-
Assessment support: implement components of behavior plans informed by FBA while noticing contextual variables that affect responding
-
Skill acquisition: apply prompting, shaping, chaining, and reinforcement while adjusting for regulation and current skill access
-
Behavior reduction: follow behavior intervention plans (BIPs) with fidelity while reducing escalation through antecedent strategies and context adjustments
-
Documentation & reporting: communicate observations and data to supervisors clearly and objectively, including contextual variables
-
Professional conduct & scope: maintain role clarity, follow supervision, and implement plans as written while providing relevant observations for BCBA decision-making
-
Ethics & least restrictive practice: support assent, dignity, and safety; prioritize least restrictive, function-based strategies
